How Hair Testing Works

Hair analysis for drug use is a more extensive type of drug screen that can’t be beat by temporary abstaining from drug use. Our bodies release toxins through our hair similarly to the way it expels toxins through urine. The biggest difference is that our hair holds onto these toxins even as it grows, which makes hair testing a perfect medium for detecting drug use over a longer period of time.

Evading a hair test is nearly impossible due to the how the specimen is collected. A certified collector snips a cosmetically undetectable amount of hair from the crown of the head and is securely sent to our accredited laboratory for testing.

The detection window for hair analysis is far larger than that of standard urinalysis. The standard hair detection window is approximately 90 days. Even more extensive windows are available in some cases (call for details). Comparatively, urinalysis typically has a detection window of the previous 2-3 days for most substances.

The standard hair strand screen tests for the following substances:

Results for a standard hair test usually take about 3-5 working days due to the complexity of the testing method used.
